Dr Paul Reitano is a lecturer in initial teacher education at Griffith University. Paul has a profile in the professional growth of early career history and geography teachers. He has recently completed an Australian Research Council grant which investigated how primary teachers of history cope with curriculum reform. At the international level, Paul has collaborated with a US colleague to investigate the pedagogical skills of beginning history teachers. Prior to joining Griffith University Paul had five years experience at the University of New England and previous to that he taught for over 18 years in high schools both nationally around Brisbane and country Queensland and internationally in Canada and Indonesia.

Paul's research in geography and history has a strong focus on inquiry learning based around knowledge and skills. The emphasis is also on promoting an understanding of the key concepts and skills of these disciplines.
