My publications and research track record is indicative of my commitment and capacity to carry out research through collaborative engagement. The challenge as I see it is to devise clear strategies that give room for individualism and at the same time encourage the sorts of collaborations necessary to promote leading edge knowledge production.
Dr Mark Tyler is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Education and Professional Studies at Griffith University. He is Program Director of the Professional Vocational and Continuing Education Team and Program Convenor of the Master of Training and Development. Mark's professional career originated in the human services field and progressed to the vocational and adult education field where he deployed his workplace, programmatic and curriculum knowledge at University Queensland and the University of Southern Queensland. Mark's approach to research includes removing the barriers between universities and industry, commerce, government and the public services, and in driving action toward the growth of a knowledge economy by attempting to strengthen individual teams' social contribution toward any particular research agenda.

Mark's expertise is in the area of professional, continuing and vocational education. His research interests are related to teacher identity, workplace learning and continuing education, critical spirit (the dispositions of critical thinkers), workplace mentoring, and collaborative concept mapping.
