I'm passionate about enhancing learning opportunities in my research for disadvantaged and marginalized communities in the early childhood sector

Dr Monika Krajcovicova is a lecturer in Early Childhood Education at the School of Education and Professional Studies, Griffith University. Monika’s expertise is in the field of child development, pedagogy in early childhood education, pro-social behaviour, positive and creative pedagogy, cross-cultural studies, social justice and equity in education. She is interested in supporting the education of children from disadvantaged and marginalized communities, and those from diverse cultural backgrounds. Monika has published widely on culture and competencies of children from disadvantaged communities, and on creative approaches to teaching and learning in the early years.

  • Community Involvement

Monika has worked as a volunteer tutor for the St Vincent de Paul Society in Brisbane supporting families of migrant and refugee backgrounds and an administrator for the Multicultural Families Organisation on the Gold Coast.

Research Expertise

Monika’s research has involved working with families from migrant and refugee backgrounds in Australia; Samoan children, their families, caregivers, and other stakeholders involved with the Aoga Amata kindergarten; First People's communities of Australia; and Romany and Traveller (Gypsy) communities in Europe.
