My research and teaching focuses on preparing preservice Geography teachers and the disciplinary area of Geography. My overarching goal is to instil in my students a deep passion for Geography and Geography education
Dr Wendy Harte is a Lecture in Geography and History Education at Griffith University. She teaches primary, junior secondary and senior Geography on the Mt Gravatt campus. Wendy is actively engaged with the Queensland Geography Teachers’ Association and the Institute of Australian Geographers. Wendy's geographic research foci includes African refugee migration and hazard risk reduction in squatter/ informal communities. Her geography education research focuses on preservice teachers' geographic competencies.
Wendy’s most recent focus is on preparing preservice Geography teachers in initial teacher education programs. Her PhD was in the area of Human Geography. In addition to her publications of geography preservice teacher, she has also published on refugee migration and disaster management in squatter settlements. Wendy's research highlights include:
