The two-day workshop provides an introduction to the ADOS-2 as an assessment tool, and is a first step in the process for establishing reliability. It uses a mixture of large group lectures as well as DVD demonstration of the ADOS-2. This training does not include the Toddler Module. ADOS-2 workshops are designed for psychologists, paediatricians, and psychiatrists. Speech pathologists, occupational therapists, and doctoral students who have experience in standardised assessment measures are also able to attend the training workshops.
The ADOS-2 workshops will run over two days - Monday 9 and Tuesday 10 December. Cost is $700 GST exclusive and includes lunch and morning tea each day.
The Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule Second Edition (ADOS-2) is a semi-structured, standardised assessment of communication, social interaction, and play. It provides a series of standardised contexts in which the individual's social, communication and repetitive, stereotyped behaviours can be observed. It has been designed to assist in the diagnosis of autism and pervasive developmental disorders and is suggested as a complementary instrument to the Autism Diagnostic Interview Revised (ADI-R). Standardised toys and activities are used to present opportunities for social and communicative interaction with the examiner. A diagnostic algorithm consistent with DSM-V and ICD-10 clinical diagnoses is generated.
The ADOS-2 is intended for use by both clinicians and researchers working with individuals on the autism spectrum. The workshop is designed for psychologists, paediatricians, psychiatrists, speech pathologists and occupational therapists. Researchers and doctoral students who have experience in standardised assessment measures are also able to attend this training workshop. All participants should have an understanding of autism symptomatology and have access to an ADOS-2 manual which they are able to read prior to the workshop
